Symbols Used in Course Descriptions

General Education Categories:

• (B) = Biological Sciences
• (C) = Composition
• (D) = Diversity
• (H) = Humanities (3 of these credits must be HUM 2305 What is the Good Life?)
• (N) = International
• (M) = Mathematics (3 of these credits must be an approved pure math course)
• (P) = Physical Sciences
• (S) = Social and Behavioral Sciences

Certain classes are approved for multiple gen ed categories; for example, a class may count as C or H.
Students can count a gen ed class toward one category only, except for D and N credits, which must be earned concurrently with a category other than D or N; for example, C or H, and D. Courses cannot count for both D and N.

Other Symbols:

• (WR) indicates the course satisfies the writing requirement.
• (S-U) indicates the course must be taken on a satisfactory-unsatisfactory basis.
