Hours: 21 credits, all completed with minimum grades of C
The minor in music theory does not require an audition, but a background in music is recommended. A theory placement exam is required to determine the appropriate level of theory the student should be taking.
A minimum of nine hours at the 3000 level or above must count toward the minor and at least 12 hours of course work must be completed at UF. Students interested in composition can also take MUC 1211 and MUC 1212, Composition Skills 1 and 2, to add a composition component to the minor.
Students should see the undergraduate adviser before enrolling in course work. More information is available from the School of Music.
