This certificate prepares students to become certified family life educators. This national certification (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations provides higher-level knowledge and skills for working with families in prevention-oriented educational programs.
The certificate can be completed as part of the family, youth and community sciences major and is intended to provide an advantage in today's competitive job market. Courses in 10 key areas of family life and an internship prepare students to offer specialized programs to families.
Students must be admitted to the FYCS major and must maintain all required academic progress standards for the major. FYC 3001 is a prerequisite or corequisite for many of the required courses.
