EUS 3221 Socialist Control and Resistance in Eastern Europe After 1945

This course is designed to explore the political, intellectual, social and cultural history of Eastern Europe from 1945 to 1990. The course discusses ways in which the Soviet leadership manipulated the governing and legal systems of the Easter European Communist countries to fit its design.
EUS 3300 Nationalism and the Idea of Europe

How a European identity arose along with the emergence of nationalism during the Reformation, the wars of religion and the Englightenment.

The course examines migration in Europe looking at topics ranging from the first modern refugee crisis in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Revolution to contemporary debates about immigration in the European Union.

Alternate course to TUR1180 for students who have had four years of high school Turkish or equivalent. The course focuses on grammar, particularly on the acquisition of future, past and past continuous tenses.
