Nonprofit Organizational Leadership Minor
Hours: Minimum of 17 credits, all completed with grades of C or better; an overall grade point average of 2.5 in all courses taken in the minor is required for the minor to be conferred.
The minor in nonprofit organizational leadership provides students with the knowledge base and competencies to perform in a variety of roles in nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies and corporations, and government agencies at the local, state and national levels. The minor draws primarily from the faculty in Family, Youth and Community Sciences. Elective courses may be taken from the colleges of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Business Administration, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Journalism and Communications, depending on the student’s interests. The minor is open to all University of Florida students. The minor must be added before a student completes 90 credit hours.
Requirements: A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is necessary for admission into the minor. Students must earn a grade of B or higher in FYC 4409 Working with Nonprofit Organizations in Community Settings to continue in the minor.
The curriculum includes:
- 14-16 hours of core courses (including 2-3 hours of approved practicum)
- Three hours of approved electives
- FYC 4409 Working with Nonprofit Organizations in Community Settings is a prerequisite for the internship or practicum.
