  • AP Scores for Placement Into Calculus

    UF offers two introductory calculus courses: MAC 2233 Survey of Calculus and MAC 2311 Analytic Geometry and Calculus 1. Please consult the majors section to determine which calculus course is required for your major.

    Calculus AB or BC
    1 or 2 MAC 1147 or 1140 (see additional info in next column to select appropriate course) MAC 1140 satisfies the prerequisite for MAC 2233 but not, by itself, for MAC 2311. MAC 1147 or the combination of MAC 1140 and MAC 1114 satisfies the prerequisite for MAC 2311. If you want to bypass MAC 1140 or MAC 1147 you can take the online mathematics placement exam for direct placement into MAC 2233 or MAC 2311.
    Calculus AB
     3 MAC 2311 Students with AP scores of 3 will receive credit for MAC 2311. If you plan to continue in the Analytic Geometry and Calculus sequence, you should retake MAC 2311.
     4 MAC 2512 While you are eligible to take MAC 2312, you should take MAC 2512 if Calculus 2 is needed for your major. (course descriptions).
     5 MAC 2312 You should take MAC 2312 if Calculus 2 is needed for your major. However, you may choose to take MAC 2512 instead. (course descriptions).
    Calculus BC
     3 MAC 2312 You should take MAC 2312 if Calculus 2 is needed for your major. However, you may choose to take MAC 2512 instead. (course descriptions).
    4 or 5 MAC 2313 Take MAC 2313 if Calculus 3 is needed for your major.
